Amy Maestas, Esq.

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Amy joins our team with no previous tax experience (though she loves learning and is already whizzing through returns) because she's an attorney by trade. She's licensed to practice law in Colorado and has experience in employment law and civil litigation and joins us after a decade on the Front Range.

No stranger to the Western Slope, Amy is a graduate of CMU and is delighted to be back in Grand Junction. She is also a longtime friend and client.

While working as an attorney, she represented clients in connection with charges of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in violation of Title VII, the ADA, and ADEA, claims based on the Colorado Wage Claim Act, and claims of wrongful discharge in violation of public policy. She also spends time counseling clients on non-compete agreements, FMLA issues, FLSA compliance, and employment policies, severance agreements, and hiring practices. This wealth of knowledge is one she's happy to share with our clients and gladly consults on any questions they might have.

Prior to attending law school, Amy worked at the NFL Players Association in Washington, D.C., managing NFL Sponsors' use of NFL players in advertising and marketing.

Amy earned a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Science (Sport Administration) at the University of Northern Colorado, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations at Colorado Mesa University, and earned her Juris Doctorate and a Certificate in Workplace Law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

When she's not at work, she's busy learning whatever catches her eye, creating art, or visiting with friends. The antics of her two cats also keep her quite busy.
